CB&Q Triple-Play

A trio of 4-8-4 “Northern” steam locomotives built in the shops of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad in Burlington, Iowa. ¬†They were built around 1940 and were in service through the mid-1950’s.

Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Engine No. 3003, on display at Burlington, Iowa. This is a Hudson Class S-4 engine, but is more commonly referred to as a Hudson 4-6-4, which indicates the wheel arrangement/pairing.
